Did you know that Parker County, Texas was officially organized on March 2, 1856? Which means that Monday, March 2nd of this year, Parker County celebrates its 170th birthday! To recognize this special day the PCHC office, on the historic square in Weatherford, will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. So, plan a visit and get connected to your local history! Learn how you can help preserve historic sites, learn what's been lost, and learn ways to save and maintain what remains of this county's rich history. Oh, and March 2nd just happens to be Texas Independence Day and the birthday of Sam Houston, the first (and third) president of the Republic of Texas. A special day all the way around!
