EPCCC Membership Luncheon-Being Funny 101

Clint Reese - Being Funny 101
The worst way to start a presentation summary is with a rhetorical question. Don’t you agree? They say “laughter is the best medicine,” but big pharma hasn’t put out a laughing pill so what does that mean, really? Yes, that was another rhetorical question. Laughter releases all the good chemicals in your brain that we don’t get enough of in the workplace. Funny people are like gravity when they speak, and being funny helps people in all walks of life be better leaders because laughter builds trust. Trust me, I’m funny. But what makes something funny? That’s three rhetorical questions and you should always follow the ‘rule of three.’ In this presentation listeners will learn what makes something funny, why laughter builds trust, when and when not to be funny, and why the appreciated yet often underrated skill of humor is so important.
Key Takeaways:

  •         Definition of a Benign Attack
  •         This is Your Brain on Funny
  •         Self-deprecation vs Self-humiliation
  •         Sarcasm vs Insulting
  •         Humor and Success – Be Funny Make Money
  •         Funny Leaders are Trustworthy Leaders
