Patriotism and Pride in Parker County

The East Parker County Chamber of Commerce will host their monthly luncheon on Wednesday, July 12, at New River Fellowship, 3252 E I-20 Service Road South, Hudson Oaks, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon will honor our businesses, owned, and operated by veterans, reserves, and active duty military.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel John H. Yuill will serve as the featured keynote speaker. Colonel Yuill was a United States Air Force B-52 Stratofortress pilot, shot down with his crew, on December 22, 1972.  After spending 98 days in captivity as a POW at the infamous “Hanoi Hilton”, Colonel Yuill was released during Operation Homecoming on March 29, 1973, the last group to be released. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Yuill earned him the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor Citation. Colonel Yuill’s final assignment was Deputy Base Commander at Carswell Air Force Base, from July 1974 until his retirement on April 1, 1979.  He served his country bravely in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1979. Colonel Yuill and his wife, Rose, reside in North Benbrook. After his retirement from the Air Force, Yuill worked for the Ft. Worth United Way for 17 years, the last 5 years, he served as Campaign Manager. Colonel Yuill’s son, Mike, has followed in his footsteps, serving 25 years in the Air Force.
