The City of Aledo and the Aledo Economic Development Corporation Proudly Present The 12th Annual Christmas Tyme in Aledo and the 35th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair Christmas Tyme in Aledo, the annual holiday event that lights up Downtown Aledo, is just around the corner. Christmas Tyme in Aledo will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 5 PM to 9 PM, and the Arts & Crafts Fair is from 10 AM to 8 PM at the Aledo Community Center. Christmas Tyme in Aledo began in 2002 as ''Light-Up-Aledo'' to highlight local Aledo businesses and to expand the activities held around the lighting of the community Christmas tree. Christmas Tyme in Aledo events will begin at 5 PM at the Aledo Community Center with the arrival of Santa on a fire truck at approximately 6 PM to light the Christmas tree followed by photographs with the children. The streets will be filled with the sound of music from live bands and choirs, which can be heard throughout the Historic Downtown area. Also, this event is spotlighted by the popular horse drawn wagon rides with Christmas treats and delicious food. Maverick Street, from FM 1187 to Old Annetta Road; and a section of Oak Street, from Elm to Mesquite, will be blocked off allowing only wagon and pedestrian traffic. Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall emphasizes that ''Christmas Tyme in Aledo is a family affair for the entire community, and the City of Aledo invites its residents and all visitors to enjoy a fun-filled day with all the activities. Don't forget to stop by the Aledo Community Center for the annual Arts and Crafts Fair.''
