The Run, Walk or Crawl (RWC) race started as a community event that would not only serve as a fundraiser to the Aledo Children's AdvoCats' mission, but also as a venue for families to come together in a healthy environment. The vision was for people of all ages to be able to participate, hence the name "Run, Walk, or Crawl." As the race has aged, we have gained race participation from outside our community as well. Many experienced runners appreciate the closed course (traffic), but love the wide open visual that the high school grounds provide. A kid's 1k fun run will take place prior to the 5K and 10K. The route will begin at Bearcat Stadium, continue around the Aledo High School Campus and end back at Bearcat Stadium. Convenient venue area parking is provided. After-race celebrations as well as the Annual Finish Line Festival and awards ceremony will be held inside Bearcat Stadium. Prizes will be awarded for 1st–3rd in all age divisions, school with the highest percentage of people registering and company with the most participants. The AdvoCats are proud to again offer a Special Needs prize category. Each participant can choose to compete in the 1K Fun Run or the 5K race and will be allowed one race companion, who will be admitted for free but is not eligible to qualify. The AdvoCats are looking forward to the 3rd Annual Finish Line Festival, where race participants can enjoy live music, sample outstanding food from area restaurants and special food vendors, and shop home goods, clothing and services from area retailers. Proceeds from Run, Walk or Crawl for Our Kids are used to help fulfill the unmet needs of children and families in our community. AdvoCat fundraisers support: The Children's Fund, The Angel Project, The Clothes Closet, High School Scholarships, Shattered Dreams and Teen Court as well as other needs in the area.
